How does Time Δ work?

TIME Δ compares the rider's progress against a virtual BBS pacer. At the first on-course position, the field creates a baseline from that point forward.

That means a rider can start in the middle of the course and the gap starts from that first segment instead of counting the skipped course distance against them.
