What does the surface analysis show in the Course Builder?

The Course Builder automatically analyzes the road surface quality along your course and provides two types of feedback:

Statistics Bar

• % Paved - Portion of your course on paved roads
  

• % Unpaved - Portion on gravel, dirt, or other unpaved surfaces
  

Elevation Chart Color Bands

The elevation profile chart displays colored bands indicating road surface quality along your course:

• Perfect - Smooth, high-quality pavement (dark gray)
  

• Good - Well-maintained roads (green)
  

• Average - Standard road conditions (no color/white)
  

• Poor - Rough or deteriorating pavement (purple)
  

• Rough - Very rough surfaces (orange/red)
  

• Gravel - Gravel roads (light gray)
  

• Dirt - Dirt roads or trails (tan)
  

• Unknown - Surface data unavailable (light blue)
  

This detailed surface information helps you choose the appropriate bike and tire setup, understand where surface conditions might affect your speed, and plan for equipment choices based on specific road segments.
